Abstract

How do you define religion?

Dr. Martin Marty discusses his interpretation of the definition of religion by listing six marks of religion. They are: an ultimate concern, interest in myth or symbol, rite and ceremony, a metaphysical backdrop, behavioral correlates, and building of community.
