Abstract

How would you define religion?

Dr. Jonathan Z. Smith discusses the definition of religion. Dr. Smith explains that religion is a human activity, and if he were to define it he would list definitions of activities. He suggests that the more interesting question is whether religion is its own independent or a subordinate category. For him religion is a subordinate category.
