About
Dr. Sheila Grossman has published the third edition (2009) of The new leadership challenge: Creating a preferred future for nursing and received a 2009 AJN Book of the Year Award for the book. She is an active member of the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty and serves on the Faclty Development and Mentoring Committees, Sigma Theta Tau, American Association of Critical Care Nursing, and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is a CCNE Site Visitor and accredits other Schools of Nursing. She also recently published How to Run Your Own Business: A Guide for Nurse Practitioners in May, 2010 and Gerontological Nurse Practitioner (GNP) Certification Review Book. She received the Josephine Dolan Award for Outstanding Contributions to Nursing Education sponsored by the CT Nurses Association, 10/09. She has several national presentations on mentoring and leadership topics scheduled.
Currently the Coordinator of the Family Nurse Practitioner Track, Dr. Grossman is involved with multiple curriculum issues at the School of Nursing including the Doctorate of Nursing Practice Taskforce, Palliative Care Pediatric Curriculum Taskforce, the Clinical Nurse Leader Track Committee, and the Simulation Pedagogy Taskforce. Dr. Grossman works one day/week at an urban primary care clinic in Hartford, CT as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She teaches Advanced Physiology & Pathophysiology, Adult Health I, Advanced Nursing Roles & Reflective Practice, and Leadership & Interprofessional Communication in the graduate program and Basic Concepts of Pathophysiology & Pharmacology and Critical Care Nursing in the undergraduate program.
