About
Professor Caster received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Economics from Lehigh University. After graduation, he worked for the Newark, New Jersey office of Arthur Young & Company (now Ernst & Young). During this time he became a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in New Jersey.
Professor Caster began his graduate studies at The University of Chicago, where he earned an MBA degree. He also taught accounting courses at Loyola University of Chicago. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of North Texas, and then joined the faculty of the University of Southern California. Professor Caster arrived at Fairfield University in 1994 as an assistant professor of accounting. He earned tenure and was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 1998. He was promoted to the rank of Professor in 2010.
Professor Caster is noted for his work in the area of audit confirmation evidence. His articles have been used by the U.S. Auditing Standards Board, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, and the International Accounting and Auditing Standards Board in revising or developing new audit confirmation standards.
