Joan L. Lee

Joan Lee is Professor of Accounting and Deloitte Fellow in Accounting at the Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University where she teaches financial and managerial accounting, ethics and accounting ethics. Her research is focused primarily on accounting education, Ignatian pedagogy and ethics. Joan received her PhD in Accounting from New York University, an MBA in Finance and BS in Accounting from Fordham University, and is a licensed CPA in New York. She received the 2025 Distinguished Faculty/Administrator Award from Fairfield University. Additional recognitions include: named one of the 50 Best Undergraduate Professors by Poets and Quants in 2024; the James M. Bowler, S.J. Award from the Murphy Center of Fairfield University in 2024; 2019 American Accounting Association Outstanding Educator Award; the Fr. Robert J. Spitzer, S.J. Award from Colleagues in Jesuit Business Education in 2014; 2008 Alpha Sigma Nu Teacher of the Year at Fairfield University, 2001 American Accounting Association Innovation in Accounting Education Award (received jointly with Dawn Massey). She serves on multiple editorial boards of academic journals and is an editor of the Journal of Jesuit Business Education. Joan is a past President of Colleagues in Jesuit Business Education and has served on its board since 1999.
